>Weekend Recap

>This weekend was relatively uneventful, but that was the goal.

I tackled my six miler yesterday with the Fleet Feeters – and it was A-W-F-U-L. It was the hottest day of the summer yet – and every news outlet, weather alert, etc. said “don’t even go outside today.” So what sounds like a good idea instead of staying inside and cool? Running six miles! Ugh. But, I somehow powered through and finished, while sweating like a pig.

One eventful thing did happen this weekend though, as I decided to officially retire the ol’ running shoes. I’ve had a pair waiting in the wings, but wanted to get my money’s worth out of the current pair. And decided after yesterday that it was time to make the switch. Good thing, I think, since upon further examination much of the tread was completely worn off the bottom of them.

It was kind of a sentimental moment, since I ran my first half marathon in these little pups – I feel like I should put them in a trophy case or something. So taking lame and embarrassing pictures with their accomplishments was the next best thing.

Here they are with their medal and bibs. They’re very proud.
New kicks, old kicks.

After my shoes retirement party, today was filled with a trip to the grocery store and Costco (my fave), and lots of laundry.

Here’s Callie – trying to decide if she might like to eat some grapes. My guess, is probably, because it IS food.
Speaking of food – check out this delicious and healthy dinner Rog made us last night. Despite it being 100 degrees yesterday, last night was super nice. So we dined al fresco and had a 100% grilled dinner. Grilled asparagus, grilled red peppers, turkey burger seasoned in Dale’s (no bun), topped with grilled onions, peppers and a little cheese. Yum.

Lastly, I tired to sew a couple of things yesterday – but after ruining two tank tops and ripping a skirt further, that I was trying to sew up, I quit. Fail. Me and the Singer are not BFFs at the moment, but I’ll try again next weekend…maybe.

And that’s about it for my thrilling weekend and this very random blog post. More excitement coming soon! 🙂

Have a great week, friends!
