First thing’s first – running update!
I think over the past 2-3 weeks I ran about 5 miles. For real. I was giving that whole “only run when you want to” mentality a voice of its own, and between the job change, etc. I just didn’t have the get up and go. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I would NOT be running the half mary in two weeks.
This week though, I had a lovely 4 mile run on Wednesday, and attempted a “long-run” today. I didn’t want to go too terribly far, because I was really breaking that whole “don’t increase your weekly mileage by more than 10% a week” rule. Let’s be honest – that wasn’t a hard feat. But I ran SIX miles today and it was great!! This half marathon is ON. Bring on the taper this week! Oh wait…good thing I’ve already got that part DOWN!
I may choke, fall over, get trampled by runners and eventually crawl across the finish line just under 5 hours, but I think I’m going to do it. Think. (Hey – it’s still two weeks away…and I may wake up with a broken foot tomorrow after my sixer.) 😉
In other news, there is a big mural of the Vanderbilt Coaches on the side of the building where the Flat is (ahh, college living), and this week, they added the new Vanderbilt Football coach’s face to the mural. I died laughing when I pulled up from work and saw it, in all its glory.
Welcome to Nashville!….Al Roker?
Welcome to our neck of the woods, Al!
